Parents & Friends Association

Parents and Friends Association The Peace Lutheran College Parents and Friends Association has a number of community and financial objectives. The P & F has an active interest in College activities and is actively involved in fund raising and friend raising activities to raise funds that are used to develop amenities for the students.

Activities

P & F meets in the P & F Centre on the 3rd Monday of each month.

The annual Trivia Night and Spring Fair are the major fundraising activities of the P & F.

P & F members also assist with Meet and Greet BBQ’s and other functions held at the College.

Where the funds go

The P & F has adopted a policy for the use of the money raised. Put simply we seek out projects that

  • Will benefit a significant number of students
  • Will provide a persistent benefit (i.e. capital in nature)
  • Will provide a reasonable immediate benefit

Examples of projects funded by P & F

  • Permanent Roof over Junior School Hard Court Area
  • 300 Chairs for Peace Multi-Purpose Centre
  • Replacement of Brick Retaining Wall in Stage 3 Area
  • Middle School Quadrangle in conjunction with State and Federal Government Grants through Investing in Our Schools Program
  • Redevelopment of the P & F Centre in conjunction with a grant of $8735 from the Minister of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors for installation of toilets. A grant of $8,851was received from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund for airconditioning of the centre. The P & F Centre is now the home of the Outside School Hours Care, Vacation Care and the Kids Connection Play Group.
  • Provision of choir stands, new electronic piano, keyboards and computers for the Music Department through a grant of $26,928.00 from Gambling Community Benefit Fund.
  • Purchased of 24sq mtr staging for use in Multi-Purpose Centre – cost $11,500

The committee is elected at annual general meetings held in July.

Book Hire: Sherry Frew

The Peace P & F operates a textbook hire system available to students throughout the College, thus passing savings on to parents. Students are expected to take good care of the textbooks. In the case of ruined or lost books, parents will be billed for the total replacement cost.
