Term 2 Week 4 Wrap
We have had a little bit of an interrupted start to the term with two long weekends in a row meaning that we have had almost as many days off school as we have had in it. All the students have handled this well and have enjoyed the extra days to relax and ease back into boarding life. Last week we have had the Year 9's on camp and this has meant that the Junior Houses have been very quiet, something very much enjoyed by the younger years. This week it has been the Year 11's turn as they have enjoyed three days at Echo Creek in Tully.
From a staffing perspective we say goodbye to a long term servant of the College, and more specifically to Boarding, Ms Molly Juhas. Molly has been working within the laundry team for over 17 years and thoroughly enjoyed coming to work here at Peace Lutheran. Unfortunately family illness has meant that she has had to relocate to Brisbane which she does so with a heavy heart. We thank Molly for her service and wish her and her family well. Thankfully Maria Nadilo has been with us also for a number years and has been able to slip seamlessly into Molly's shoes. I would also like to welcome Hazmin Satrick and Lovelyn Daki to our Boarding Supervisory Staff. Hazmin has been working with Child Safety while Lovelyn is studying and is an ex Peace Boarder.
This term we have also changed the way the students need to sign in and out of the Boarding Houses. This is all completed electronically now through the REACH system. The students use their student ID cards or PIN numbers to sign in and out and hopefully this provides them with a feeling of greater autonomy. So far they have adapted to the concept well but with all changes comes a few challenges and so it is only natural that some students are adapting better than others.
