Secondary Curriculum

The Secondary School curriculum aims to provide a stimulating, practical academic program tailored to make the learning experience relevant, challenging, and interesting. Learning experiences provide individualised attention and support, connecting classroom learning to real life. Students are prepared for their future beyond school.

Students in Years 7 and 8 participate in core and elective subjects. Elective subjects are undertaken on a rotation basis across the two years, enabling our students to make informed decisions when it comes time to choose elective subjects in Year 9.

In Year 10, students study from two sets of subjects.

We encourage our students to be motivated learners who study what they love and are good at.

Our students are encouraged to explore learning beyond the traditional subject lines, with subject offerings now available via distance education, external providers, TAFE and Start Uni Now programs.

Students are required to choose one English and one Mathematics subject as compulsory subjects, along with Sport. Students then choose a further four subjects from the nominated subject lines.

Students can choose from a mix of General or Applied subjects.

General Subjects are suited to students who are interested in pathways beyond senior secondary schooling that lead primarily to tertiary studies and to pathways for vocational education and training and work.

Applied Subjects are suited to students who are primarily interested in pathways beyond secondary schooling that lead to vocational education and training or work.

Our Year 11 Subject Selection Guide has been developed in conjunction with the Queensland Curriculum & Assessment Authority.
