Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
We have a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for Year 10 to Year 12 students. This allows a greater level of flexibility in each student's learning, allowing them the opportunity to choose the device that best suits their needs.
Students in Prep to Year 9 are not required to provide their own devices. A school-issued device will be provided for their schoolwork.
Students in Year 10 through to Year 12 are required to bring a laptop to school for class use to support their studies. You may purchase a device that best suits your child's learning needs in either of the following ways:
Option A: Purchase a device through JB Hi-Fi using our BYOD portal: Education - JB Hi-Fi Education
Use code PLCBYOD2026 to access our approved devices. All devices have care plans available - highly recommended in case of accidental damage.
Option B: Purchase a device through your preferred supplier that meets the minimum specifications required. Devices purchased from other suppliers will receive general ICT support with all repairs and maintenance needed to be directed through the place of purchase.
All devices must meet these minimum requirements:
- Intel N250, AMD Ryzen R2314 (Quad-core CPU) or higher
- Memory: 8GB or higher
- Storage: 128GB or bigger Solid State Drive
- Wi-Fi 6
- Screen size: 10" - 13" screen, touchscreen optional (larger/bulky screens may cause inconvenience to classroom operation)
- Advertised battery life: Advertised all-day battery life
- Windows 11 Standard or Mac OS 15/26
Peace Lutheran College recommends exceeding these minimum requirements if possible as some students may require additional processing or storage on their laptops for elective subjects.
Accidental Damage Protection is highly recommended as repairing unprotected devices can be both costly and time-consuming.
Students enrolled under the ABSTUDY program are eligible to be allocated a basic laptop from the school which is subsequently billed to ABSTUDY. These devices become the property (and responsibility) of the allocated student.
The College provides some software for students’ BYOD including Microsoft Office and OpenText Anti-Virus (formally Webroot).
Devices that do not meet the above requirements may not be compatible with college systems and will not be serviced by the college IT department.
